A Change is Gonna Come... GeorgiasMakeUpAddiction.co.uk!

I'm currently trying to switch it up here on Georgia's Make Up Addiction. I've had this blog up for over 3 years now and I'm still not happy with it. Most of my frustrations come with the visual side of things, because I can't always successfully execute my own creative ideas. Therefore I'm trying to work on my design and photography skills, so please bear with me while I bring my content up to a higher quality that I can be proud of.

Also, I've (finally) taken the plunge and purchased a domain name! It already makes me feel more confident about sharing this blog without the clunky URL. All I'm saying in this post is that the content may not be regular for a couple of weeks, but then it hasn't been for a while because I don't like uploading if I feel my efforts are substandard. Onwards and upwards as they say.

If you're here anyway, why not have a look above at my Tags, Popular Posts and Review Directory pages to catch up on my past posts.

Netflix Recommendations #1

This weekend is going to be a cold one up north, so all the more reason to snuggle up with some good television.

Finishing University: 1 Year On, #TheGraduateDream?

On Monday 29th September 2014, I woke up completely free from full-time education. At the time I felt overwhelming relief because this meant my 15,000 word dissertation was handed in but it didn't take too long before a whole new set of worries emerged. I soon missed the security of being a student, knowing exactly what was next and having the 'student' title to describe what I was doing with my time. I took on more hours at the part-time retail job I'd had since my second year of university, which was a welcome change from an intense year of studying. However over this past year I've experienced periods of feeling low and negative about myself, which has hit me hard. The graduate dream hasn't worked out the way I thought it would for me so far but I've learned to be more positive about myself, so this is what I've learned:

Rimmel Nude Picks: Kate Lipstick, Nail Polish and Lip Liner

On the same day I was sleep deprived and ended up buying two Soap and Glory Gloss Sticks (review here), I also took a fancy to a few nude delights from Rimmel. Nude shades are perfect for any time of the year, but these darker nude shades seem to be an upcoming autumn and winter trend.

Why I Fall In and Out of Love With Blogging

Time to get truthful. I've been blogging since 2012 when one day I just decided to set up a blog and join the beauty community that I loved. I spent most of my free time watching YouTube videos, reading blogs and researching beauty products so creating a blog was exciting. In my first couple of months I posted more times than I have in the last year. However when I started my Masters degree that became my main focus and suddenly spending my free time reading and writing wasn't my priority. Since then I've have spurts of inspiration for blogging but I'm always plagued by my negative feelings towards blogging, especially within the beauty and lifestyle community.

Kiko Cosmetics Nail Lacquer: Review and Swatches

Kiko Nail Laquers

On my holiday in Ibiza, between sipping cocktails overlooking the sea and chilling out around the pool, we took a trip into Ibiza Town. The main town itself was beautiful, plenty of restaurants and bars for tapas and beer in the centre and sea views on the outskirts. We didn't expect to wander into the main high street not long before we left and I was drawn across the busy street into Kiko Cosmetics, a brand I'd read about and seen online but has never had the chance to browse or buy in person. Obviously I had to make a few purchases, especially as the prices were so reasonable and these nail lacquers were on sale for just over a Euro!

Soap and Glory Sugar Crush Range: Review

Soap and Glory Sugar Crush

I've loved Soap and Glory body and bath products since they first became popular as the perfect Christmas gift. The scent of the original products are strong, sweet and musky which isn't to everyone's taste. Enter Sugar Crush, a sweet lime and vanilla scented range with a more fresh smell than past ranges.

Boho Folk Fashion: Autumn 2015

I'm completely over summer. I had my beach holiday in June and the proper summer weather has briefly been and quickly gone in Costa Del Newcastle, so roll on Autumn. I'm loving the folk inspired fashion that's starting to appear in the shops in anticipation for Autumn with mixed textures like leather, suede and wool alongside warm tone fabrics and interesting patterns. I also think this style is easy to wear from Summer to Autumn to Winter, as shorts can be swapped for jeans, skirts can be worn with chunky tights, sleeveless jackets can be layered over long sleeved tops etc.

New Soap and Glory Sexy Motherpucker Gloss Sticks 3D Volume Lip Shine: Review and Swatches

I mindlessly wandered into Boots on Wednesday afternoon "just for a look" (we've all done it). I had been awake since 5am so I was in no mood to make sensible decisions. The new mini Soap and Glory Sexy Motherpucker Gloss Sticks were centre stage on the brand's display and I was reeled in by a buy one get one half price offer and the £3.50 price tag. I'd considered buying the original sized Sexy Motherpucker Gloss Sticks in the past but at £8 I'd been put me off. I already have a lot of lip products so a mini version didn't feel so naughty. As a lip product hoarder, I'm all for brands releasing mini versions! More space in my bag and a better chance of using them up.

eBay Wishlist #1: Make-Up Brushes Under £2

A collection of the eBay bargains I'm lusting over, with a focus on make-up brushes because you can never have too many when they're this reasonable!

Seventeen Falsifeye HD Mascara: Review and Demo

I'm always on the hunt for great mascaras that are budget friendly. Nothing worse than having to replace an expensive mascara every few months! Boot's Seventeen range is always great value and easy to get your hands on, so I picked up their Falsifeye mascara which was on offer at the time for only £4.

Face of the Night (FOTN): Smoky Silver and Hot Pink Lips

Lately my morning beauty routine has consisted of rolling out of bed and applying minimal make-up, then with a quick brush of my hair I'm work ready. I think we all go through those stages where taking that extra time just isn't a priority, therefore a Saturday night out in Newcastle is a great excuse to indulge my inner beauty fiend.

£1 Serum? Derma V10 Derma Serum Review

I picked this up on a whim in Poundland a couple of months ago and after a quick glance at the ingredients on the back I saw nothing alarming so in it went into my already straining basket. My skin tends to be dry and dehydrated all year round so I'm always looking for those products which will give my skin some life back without costing me a fortune. Products for dry skin are always marketed as 'luxurious', 'rich' and containing high quality ingredients, therefore companies can charge a crazy amount for a tiny pot of 'wonder' cream.

Pre-Holiday Beauty Routine: Ibiza 2015

 photo hols_zpsx1jj4kuo.jpg

I'm back from my holiday in sunny Ibiza (sad face) but I thought I'd share my pre-holiday routine. I've written this post with the preparation I did for my Ibiza beach/pool holiday in mind, however this could easily apply to any kind of holiday/event.

Face of the Night (FOTN): Pink, Purple and Bronze featuring Make Up Revolution, Kiko and Mac

With all this warm weather and a slight tan still sticking around from my holiday, I used pink, purple and bronze tones to create this smoky, soft and illuminating look. The Make Up Revolution Redemption Palette Iconic 3 is a bargain at only £4, with shades similar to those in the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette that are perfect for summer. I also used my new Kiko Glamorous Eye Pencil that I picked up in Ibiza (haul and review to follow), as the plum shade is less harsh than black and blends well with the colours in the palette.

P.S. Love by Primark - Make Up, Skincare and Nails: Review

On my last visit to Primark I was struck by the size of their P.S. Love beauty section. What started as a few eyelashes, nails and accessories has grown to include all types of make-up, skincare, hair and general tools and accessories all for a low price. I thought I'd pick up a few interesting looking products and give them a go to see if I could find any essential budget buys. The amount of products which are only £1 prompt me to want to sing the £1 Fish song...

Britney Spears Fantasy The Naughty Remix EDP: Review

First up - die hard Britney fan here. Since the Baby One More Time days I've been bopping along to her songs and in 2011 when I saw her live... it was magical! When she realised Fantasy in 2005 I was 13 years old and remember using my leftover holiday money to buy it duty free. At the time I loved it and so did many others over the years, as you would smell its strong scent everywhere from the classroom to the girls toilets on a night out. I never went back to the original for this reason but when she realised a new range inspired by this classic I was drawn back in.

George at Asda Super Boost Foundation: Review and Bourjois Healthy Mix Dupe?

Last month I totally overspent. Between meals out, contact lenses and buying annoyingly expensive essentials like razor blades and toothbrush heads, I found myself holding back from buying a new Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation as my current one was nearing the end. At £9.99 a bottle, it's nowhere near the price of high end branded foundation but still I usually hold out for some kind of offer before buying. When shopping for food in Asda I spyed their make-up stands, where you can usually pick up great deals on brands like L'Oreal and Rimmel, and noticed their George at Asda range. For £4 the Super Boost Foundation stood out as something I had to try as it's been created to imitated Healthy Mix, from the similar red lid, pump, added fruit extracts and even the name.

Winter to Spring (Current) Skincare 2015: Cleansing Dry/Dehydrated/Sensitive Skin

Winter may be all bobbles hats and walks in the snow but for those of us with dry/dehydrated skin it's a constant struggle to keep your face smooth. Sadly mine turns as flaky as my beloved Greggs cheese pasties and my nose especially looks red and sore. Therefore I love finding budget products which work for my skin without breaking the bank as skincare has the reputation of doing.

007 for Women EDP: Review

"007 for women?" you may be thinking, don't worry I thought the same. Released after the popularity of the male 007 fragrance, this scent "embodies the dangerously seductive nature of the Bond Woman". I immediately drooled at the box and the black quilted style bottle with rose gold details. No doubt that this would look beautiful on any dressing table.

Collection Make Up: 3 Budget Eye Product Reviews

Before Christmas I was tempted into some purchases while in Superdrug, as they were offering a free mascara (Super Size) with a £5 spend from the stand. At one time Collection (or Collection 2000 as they were previously) were one of the cheapest offerings when shopping for make-up, however now with brands like MUA and Colour Revolution they aren't the cheapest on the market. I've tried bits and bobs over the years and always found their products to be nothing special but I had never given their mascaras a go and I was hoping to give liquid liner a go.

Netflix: Is It Worth It? A Review and Recommendations

I signed up for the 30 day Netflix trial a few years ago when it was first advertised on television but decided to cancel within the trial as I wasn't interested in their film or television selection. Recently I signed up again for the free trial because I was interested in watching the last couple of series of Breaking Bad and also seeing if the hype was true about Orange is the New Black. Since then I've been hooked by how easy it is to watch on my tablet (a Samsung Galaxy TabPRO 8.4).

Follow Me On Instagram

In 2015 I want to take more pictures. I have this idea that I'd love to make scrapbooks, which is a great idea until I realise that I'm shy of snapping pictures. I'm hoping that using Instagram more in 2015 will prove to be an easy way to embrace my inner photographer.

So give me a follow on Instagram at georgia_n92 and feel free to leave your username below.
