Review: Rimmel Kate Scandaleyes Rockin' Curves Mascara in Jet Black

I was quite surprised when this popped through my letterbox with no information inside to why I had received it. After some thought I think I had entered a Rimmel giveaway on Facebook, which they have frequently on their new products so definitely worth entering. Anyway, I hadn't tried a Rimmel mascara since their Sexy Curves variety so it was nice to step away from my usual Maybelline mascaras.

On first impression the mascara wasn't easy to work with, as the brush is quite large, has a curved shape and also picks up a lot of excess product. All of these factors make it very easy, especially for someone as clumsy and long sighted as me, to end up with mascara and smudges all over my eyes. It does however provide good curve without eyelash curlers. The look achievable by using this mascara is definitely dramatic with added volume, length and dark pigment, although the brush makes it easy to apply too much product and not separate enough which leaves a spidery and clumpy look. Also beware that this formula is not smudgeproof so will smudge if you rub your eyes or have watery eyes throughout the day. After using this for over a month I had stained many towels due to wiping my face either after a shower or my final cleanse and not realising that I still had some mascara left on my eyes. Therefore it's going in the bin because I can't be bothered with it anymore.

All in all, an ok mascara but I believe there are better within in the same price bracket and I'm not a fan of any mascara that is messy to apply and doesn't remove easily or fully. This mascara is available in different colours (blue, red/purple and green) which I'm sure would be fun to try but, for me, not in this formula.
