Empties #1

I started collecting empty products not long after I started my blog last summer but I've never done an empties post! Now I have a backlog of empties (two carrier bags full) so I'm happy to review these products and finally dispose of them. This post is a mixture of things I've used up over the past year but there is lot more to come...

Batiste Dry Shampoo in XXL Volume - Boots or Superdrug - £3.99

It's kind of obvious that I love this product, seeing as I've collected 6 bottles over a year (I'm sure I've gone through more but haven't kept them!). I use this practically every time I style my hair or as a refresher if it's a 'get-up and go' hair day to remove the natural oils at my roots which make my hair too soft to have any volume or texture. Both Boots and Superdrug's customer reviews show polarising opinions towards this product as you can feel it in your hair, especially if you use too much, but I find it's the only product that keeps volume in my hair for longer than 30 minutes. I also make sure to use a cleansing shampoo (like the one below) to remove any product build up from using dry shampoo daily every 1-2 weeks. I do go through these quite quickly so I jump for joy if they're on offer and I buy loads at once. There was a period last summer where I stockpiled at least 6 from different shopping trips as they were only 99p!

Boots Expert Build Up Removal Shampoo - Boots - Not Currently Available Online

Anyone who uses any type of extra products on the roots of their hair needs a good cleansing shampoo to remove any build-up. This is the old packaging of the Boots Expert range and I've since repurchased a bottle in the new packaging but the product seems the same. I love the smell, as its really fresh and I use this before I shampoo my hair as I have quite thick, long hair so I always tend to shampoo my hair twice to make sure I've cleaned every area. Sadly I can't see this online at Boots and the other Boots Expert Shampoos are unavailable so hopefully they are just being repackaged again and not discontinued or dramatically reformulated; however you may still be able to find these in stores.

Garnier Body Intensive 7 Days Nourishing Lotion in Softening Cocoa Butter 400ml - Boots or Superdrug - £4.99

This is my second bottle of this body lotion so it's already technically a repurchase. I love the chocolate/vanilla scent and it dries really quickly so it's really easy to apply. I actually miss this product now it's finished but I'm trying to branch out and try new things but if it was ever half-price I may be tempted to buy another bottle.

Lush Snow Fairy Shower Gel 250g - Lush - Limited Edition

I treated myself to the medium sized bottle of Snow Fairy before Christmas last year because I love the sweet, bubblegum scent. Although I love the scent I wasn't that impressed with the product; I found the shower gel didn't lather up well and once washed off my skin felt dry and tight as if I'd used a really soapy product. I don't know if I'd repurchase because I think it's usually £9.99 for this size and I wasn't in love with the product overall.

Boots Simply Sensitive Eye Make-Up Removal Pads - Boots - £2.33 (usually £3.49)

I bought these pads to take on holiday last year instead of taking eye make-up remover and cotton pads separately. These were ok but I find this type of product, no matter how sensitive the packaging claims the formula is, always tends to irritate my eyes, which are usually dry and sore on a beach holiday already. I don't mind these for convenience but I wouldn't buy them to use at home on a day-to-day basis.

Dove Original Antiperspirant Deodorant 35ml - Superdrug - £1.25

Especially in the summer, it is always nice to have a deodorant/antiperspirant handy for any top-ups during the day. I don't mind this scent and I like that it doesn't change or smell sour if you do get hot or start to sweat which some do; for me particularly the type which smell fruity, floral or overly perfumed so I tend to go for fresh, clean scents.

Oral B 3D White Brilliance Toothpaste - Boots - £3.49

I reviewed this product last year (review here) and didn't see a lot of difference from using it. Once I'd used it up I still didn't see any improvement on the whiteness of my teeth but I feel this product would possibly be more effective on teeth which have been noticeably stained by regularly drinking tea/coffee/cola/red wine.
