Strawberry Ice Cream and Something Spar-Kylie: NOTD 8/9/12

I seriously must be obsessed with the Barry M nail polish in Strawberry Ice Cream. I wanted it from when it was first released with the ice cream collection, like two years ago, but never bought it and was on the list of things I want for ages. I think I finally bought this in Spring when Boots was having a 3 for 2 on all make up but for some strange reason I frequently forget I have it and lust over owning it? Whadafu!

Anyway, I'm glad I did get round to getting it because it is a great polish. The pink colour reminds me of the perfect strawberry milkshake and I love the opaque, cream finish, which you don't always get with pale pink polishes. As with most of the Barry M polishes, 2 coats will do but 3 coats is the best for opaqueness and the lasting power.

I decided to jazz up Strawberry Milkshake with some sparkle so I chose Something Spar-Kylie from the Nicole by OPI Kardashian Kolor collection. I've already blogged a NOTD solely using this polish with an accompanying review explaining my problems with it. I used only 1 coat of the Barry M polish to give it a base to help it match in with the other nails. I didn't find Something Spar-Kylie to be as annoyingly and easily chipped this time but that's possibly because it was only on one nail (and a nail that doesn't see as much action as some of the others). As I said in the original post, Something Spar-Kylie is a sheer pink base with pink glitter which does feel similar to if you dipped wet nails in glitter. Overall I think they make a pretty combo.

Somehow the lid on the Barry M polish is cracked which has never happened before with any of their polishes. Strange.

  1. I really want to try the Barry M nail paints but they don't sell them here in Hong Kong :( It makes me so sad because I've heard such great things about them! The glitter polish is pretty too, makes for a nice accent nail :)

    1. That's a shame because I find Barry M to be the best formula for my nails, along with Model's Own. Their colours are still pretty though xx
