Review: Bourjois 1 Second Magic Nail Polish Remover

Bourjois Magic Nail Polish Remover - Boots - £4.99

This product is a nail polish remover that claims to instantly remove your nail polish in 1 second... 1 second might be a little optimistic but it's not far off!

Instead of nail polish remover coming in a bottle or in a pot already soaked in cotton wool pads, this 'magic' remover comes in a pot filled with foam that has absorbed the liquid. When you dip your finger into the gap and move your nail against the walls of the foam, your polish is removed. Easy to remove polish will take less than 5 seconds of rubbing per nail and harder the remove types like glitter may take a little longer.

At first when I saw this on blogs and YouTube I thought it was just a gimmick but it actually works very well. The only problem I've had with it is that it can require more effort to get the polish from the very edges of your nails if it hasn't be removed with the rest. Overall I've found this much more effective than my usual method of using Superdrug's Nail Polish Remover Pads.

The remover inside also claims to smell like 'red fruit and vanilla' which isn't too far off either but the fragrance will only be noticeable once your nails are dry. I don't know how nourishing this is for the cuticles as I don't get to get dry there but this hasn't aggravated the sensitive skin on my hands.

Even though the price tag may be a bit steep for a nail polish removing product, there is the possibility that it could be refilled with bottled nail polish remove when the liquid inside dries out to re-moisten the foam. I haven't tried this as the foam in mine is still moist and there's still excess liquid in the bottom and I don't know how long this will last before it dries out. Obviously just make sure to close the lid after using to prevent it prematurely drying out.

Unfortunately these can be quite hard to get a hold of. I got mine in the Newcastle Eldon Square Boots, which is a large store, about a month ago and this was the last one on the shelf. Boots.com has them in stock at the moment and also says they're a Boots exclusive. If you can find one, they're definitely worth a try.

  1. I was so tempted to buy this today, but couldn't decide whether it was worth it. I probably will after my current nail varnish remover runs out. Thanks for the review though!
I love your blog and I'm now your newest follower! It'd be amazing if you have a quick look at mine too?
