OOTD: Leather, Studs and Feathers - 20/7/12

Dress: Miso from Republic (Unavailable)
Jacket: Dorothy Perkins (£55)
Shoes: Deichmann (£14.99) (Blog Post) - Bought in store but can't find in their online shop.

Now I'm no LLYMLRS but I thought I'd do a quick outfit of day showing my new leather jacket that only came this morning and I wore out into town today. I've been on a bit of a quest to find the perfect leather/biker style jacket and after buying this one from Topshop in two sizes online and returning them, I decided to do the same with this one from Dorothy Perkins.

Black Detachable Fur Collar Biker - Dorothy Perkins - £55

These types of jackets seem to be a smaller fit anyway so I decided to get my normal size and the size up to try with the intention of keeping the one that fit best and returning to other instore or returning both. The other bonus of ordering a jacket like this in two sizes is that it usually takes you up to the free delivery limit and most stores will let you return online purchases instore (check the returns policy before buying) saving the hassle of having to send back items. Jackets like this tend to sell out quickly in stores and online, especially in the larger sizes as they tend to small fitting, so its definitely worth grabbing one when you see it. A lot of online shops have online only discounts and student discounts available so it can also be cheaper to buy online.

I settled on the larger size (16) because the 14 (usual size) was fine done up with a sleeveless dress underneath but I like to layer cardigans and hoodies in winter so the larger size was a better fit. It also comes with a detachable faux fur collar which just pops on and off with a few small buttons; perfect for winter - I love anything faux fur! The cut of this jacket is more flattering than the Topshop one as it has more waist definition and fits better around the back on my figure. The material isn't actually leather but for a jacket in a great cut and soft material - I'm happy.

The dress was a bargain from the Republic sale in May, it's a strange material like a towel, wool feel but the pattern was so unique I just loved it. It came with this thin, plaited, tan belt with feathers attached which I'm not keen on, it looks better belted in with a thicker tan belt as it gives a better shame. I find the skater shape really flattering so my wardrobes full of them. My studded slipper shoes have hardly left my feet in the last two weeks, they're so comfy and just go with everything - bargain - see my blog post about them here.
